Ubisoft is undergoing further organizational restructuring, resulting in significant staff reductions and the closure of a long-standing studio. According to reports, the Finnish developer RedLynx is set to shut down, impacting up to 52 employees.
The publisher is also cutting 70 positions at Ubisoft Singapore, the team responsible for the pirate-themed title Skull and Bones. This reduction represents approximately one-fifth of the studio's total workforce, though Ubisoft maintains that the location remains a vital component of its global production network.
RedLynx, acquired by Ubisoft in 2011, was previously celebrated for its work on the Trials series, including Trials HD and Trials Evolution. Following the 2019 release of Trials Rising, the studio transitioned into a support role for the broader company.
These actions align with Ubisoft's ongoing efforts to reduce costs and reorganize into a leaner business model. The company has recently focused on narrowing its development scope, which has involved multiple studio closures, project cancellations, and widespread staff layoffs across its global operations.
