Riot Games has confirmed the closure of League of Legends Classic, less than two months after its initial release. The mode is scheduled to be removed in January 2027 due to insufficient player counts across most regions, which has resulted in extended matchmaking times and poorly balanced matches.

To manage the remaining time, Riot Games is restricting availability in specific regions. While Europe and North America remain unaffected, players in Latin America North and South will only have access to the mode during limited windows: 16:00 to 23:59 on weekdays and 10:00 to 00:59 on weekends, based on server time.

The developer has halted sales of exclusive content and will issue refunds for previous store purchases. Despite the closure, scheduled content will still arrive, including a free battle pass in Patch 26.21 on October 21, 2026, and new characters such as Volibear, Yorick, and Urgot.

Riot Games intends to bring the mode back in the future as a temporary event with adjustments. This setback follows the cancellation of 2XKO earlier this year, placing significant pressure on a major upcoming update for League of Legends expected next year.
