TCL has officially introduced its flagship 5G AI CPE X5 at the Network X 2026 event. This device is marketed as a comprehensive agentic AI 5G CPE designed to enhance connectivity for households and small businesses. The product has already received recognition as a 2026 IFA Innovation Award Honoree.

The X5 features a unified agentic architecture that interprets user intent to manage network settings, traffic prioritization, and device control. By utilizing specialized AI engines, the device optimizes 5G reception through an 8Rx antenna configuration, which lab testing indicates provides up to 51% higher downlink throughput compared to 4Rx designs. It supports 3GPP Release 18, achieving a theoretical peak downlink rate of 7.01 Gbps.

The hardware includes proactive self-care capabilities, monitoring Wi-Fi, LAN, and cellular systems to detect and resolve issues like resource overload or parameter drift. Additionally, the device employs local AI QoS to prioritize latency-sensitive traffic such as gaming and video calls, while offering adaptive power management and enhanced parental controls.

TCL envisions the X5 as a connected-living AI hub, incorporating on-device computing and a unified AI OS. The architecture is designed to support local multi-agent scheduling and offline task execution. Future expansions may include integrated model stores and compatibility with NAS devices or AI cameras, as TCL continues to explore 5G-A and next-generation Wi-Fi technologies.
