The original Destiny, which launched exclusively on consoles in 2014, is the subject of a fan-led initiative to bring the title to PC. Known as Project Golden Age, this effort seeks to rebuild the shooter by reverse-engineering client and server communications.

Technical progress on the project has been documented by YouTuber Flummoxed, who showcased the game running at 4K resolution and 60 FPS. The development process reportedly incorporates generative AI coding assistance to help reconstruct the experience for the new platform.

Bungie’s head of product and general manager for Marathon, Josh Deane, acknowledged the project on Twitter. Deane shared a lighthearted reaction to the footage, though his comment does not confirm any official endorsement or future collaboration regarding the mod.

Despite the high-profile attention, the project has not yet faced legal intervention from Sony. Lead developer aknumbers continues to provide updates on Bluesky, though the final release timeline for the PC port remains uncertain at this time.
