Developer Ember Lab has announced that Kena: Scars of Kosmora will now be released in 2027. The team requires additional time to polish the experience and achieve a higher quality and larger scale than their 2021 debut, Kena: Bridge of Spirits.
The upcoming title maintains a linear, character-driven adventure style while offering greater depth and dimension than its predecessor. Ahead of the game's events, protagonist Kena spent extended periods studying to become a spiritual guide, combining the roles of warrior and healer to fight corruption caused by unsettled spirits.
Kena journeys to the mysterious island of Kosmora to meet her childhood friend Orfio, seeking answers regarding her past and her future role as a spiritual guide. Kosmora features complex spirit guide temples that function as dungeons, testing players and rewarding them with loot that transforms Kena.
Players will navigate the map using a new traversal method, utilizing a crystalline ancestral spirit companion that doubles as a mount. This companion also directly aids Kena in combat and helps solve alchemical puzzles.
When it launches in 2027, Kena: Scars of Kosmora will be available for PS5 in both physical and digital editions, as well as digitally for PC.
