Ubisoft has confirmed the layoff of 70 employees at its Singapore studio, occurring three months after the release of Assassin's Creed Black Flag Resynced. The title achieved significant commercial success, selling two million units in one day and three million within a week, ultimately exceeding annual expectations in just fourteen days.

The company stated that these personnel reductions are intended to align the studio with future production requirements. Ubisoft emphasized that the Singapore location remains a vital component of its global development network and committed to managing the transition with care and respect for the affected staff.

This development follows similar workforce reductions at other Ubisoft locations. Ubisoft Barcelona previously cut nearly one-third of its staff shortly after contributing to the development of Black Flag Resynced. Additionally, the publisher has proposed the complete closure of its Redlynx studio in Finland, a move that could impact up to 52 positions.

The potential closure of Redlynx, known for the Trials series, is attributed to a lack of active projects and sustainability concerns. Ubisoft noted that this decision is subject to local negotiation processes as part of a broader effort to prioritize efficiency across its worldwide operations.
