Canadian developer Norsfell, known for Tribes of Midgard, has officially unveiled its latest project, New Gods, during the 3i online showcase. This title is described as an action RPG that blends survival and construction mechanics within a top-down perspective.
The game features an open world where mythologies from Norse, Greek, and Egyptian cultures intersect. Players take on the role of God-kin, survivors of Ragnarök, tasked with restoring the World Tree seed to bring balance to the universe. The experience supports both solo play and cooperative multiplayer.
Gameplay involves transforming into mythical creatures like phoenixes or manticores to traverse diverse environments. Players can recruit followers, construct temples, and craft gear to battle giant monsters. Creative director Julian Maroda noted that the studio aims to explore the collapse of divine power sources, marking this as their most ambitious project to date.
New Gods is slated for release on Steam, Epic Games Store, Xbox Series X|S, and PlayStation 5, though a specific launch date remains unannounced. Future updates are expected to incorporate Chinese mythology into the game's expansive world.
