Publisher Team17 officially revealed The Escapists 3 during the Triple-I Showcase. This upcoming entry in the sandbox prison-break series is scheduled to launch in 2027 for PC and home console platforms.
The game transitions to a 3D environment, offering players over 120 items to craft or steal. Participants must study guard patrol patterns and exploit prison systems to escape five distinct facilities. Gameplay supports solo play, local split-screen for two, and online multiplayer for up to four users.
A new progression system allows inmates to earn experience points, unlocking skills and gameplay options that persist across different prisons. Players can specialize their characters based on preferred escape styles, whether through stealth, combat, or creative improvisation.
Team17 General Manager Harley Homewood described the title as a fresh interpretation of the series, highlighting the shift to fully realized 3D correctional facilities. The developer noted that this announcement serves as an early look at future content for the franchise.
