Aeternum Game Studios announced that a free demo for the Metroidvania sequel Aeterna Lucis will be available on Steam starting October 20 at 1:00 AM Taiwan time, coinciding with the Steam Next Fest. The full game is scheduled for release on December 3 across PC, PlayStation, Xbox, and Nintendo Switch platforms.
The sequel continues the narrative of Aeterna Noctis, featuring a new protagonist cursed by the Supreme God Chaos. Players must navigate interconnected maps, engage in fast-paced combat, and uncover secrets. The demo allows players to explore the complete first biome, the Tower of Light, and face its initial boss, showcasing improvements developed over an additional year of production.
New mechanics include a light-based navigation system and dynamic camera movements that track player actions. The game introduces two difficulty settings: the accessible Aeterna mode and the challenging Lucis mode. Further technical refinements include a redesigned HUD, seamless exploration without loading screens, and an art-focused map system.
