Key information

The upcoming Nintendo Switch 2 remake of The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time will require 27 GB of storage space. This figure, sourced from a Japanese download card image shared on X by Genki_JPN, marks a significant increase from the original 1998 Nintendo 64 release, which occupied only 32 MB.

This storage requirement makes the title the largest mainline Zelda entry to date, surpassing the 24 GB size of The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom. While it remains smaller than modern titles like Call of Duty, it is only exceeded in the franchise by the 2025 spinoff Hyrule Warriors: Age of Imprisonment at 43 GB.

Polygon reviewers praised the remake, noting that it feels both nostalgic and modern. They highlighted the impressive graphical updates and improved gameplay mechanics, such as the ability to jump at will, concluding that the title plays better than ever while retaining its timeless quality.

The game is scheduled for an exclusive release on the Nintendo Switch 2 on Nov. 5. The increased file size is attributed to the introduction of a new art style and an expanded game world.
