An indie developer known as chicanogoth is gaining viral attention for creating a retro-style video game based on Zach Cregger’s Resident Evil film. The project, humorously titled Resident Evil: The Movie: The Game, adapts scenes from the motion picture into an interactive experience.

The game utilizes fixed camera angles and a polygonal art style to emulate the aesthetic of early Resident Evil titles. Gameplay footage features the character Bryan Hodukavich fleeing from an infected Doberman, a creature modeled after the Cerberus from Resident Evil 2, amidst a snowy environment with a crashed police cruiser.

Development updates shared on October 19 showcased various injury and death animations for the protagonist. The creator noted that this project serves as a personal learning experience, with plans to continue adding features incrementally.

Public interest remains high, with fans suggesting the inclusion of the character's poor aim or offering voiceover assistance. This project follows other viral fan works, such as Chandler Riggs' short film adaptation of Resident Evil 7: Biohazard, which received praise from director Koshi Nakanishi.
