NIS America and Falcom have officially announced that Ys VIII: Lacrimosa of DANA will launch on the Nintendo Switch 2. According to a trailer released on October 20, 2026, the game is scheduled to arrive on February 25, 2027.
The new version leverages the hardware capabilities of the Switch 2, supporting performance up to 120 frames per second. It also introduces the GameShare feature, enabling local cooperative play across different consoles, and adds Spanish language support for the first time.
The narrative follows Adol, a shipwrecked survivor on a cursed island who builds a village to combat local beasts. Originally released on PS Vita in 2016, the title has since appeared on numerous platforms including PlayStation 4, PC, the original Nintendo Switch, Stadia, and PlayStation 5.
Regarding commercial details, NIS America has not yet disclosed pricing for the Switch 2 edition. Furthermore, there is currently no information regarding an upgrade path for those who already own the 2018 version of the game on the original Nintendo Switch.
