NIS America and Falcom have officially announced that the action-JRPG Ys VIII: Lacrimosa of DANA will be released for the Nintendo Switch 2 on February 25, 2027. This information was confirmed via a trailer published by the publisher on October 20, 2026.
The port is designed to utilize the hardware capabilities of the Switch 2 rather than being a simple re-release. NIS America stated that the game will run at up to 120 frames per second and introduce support for the GameShare feature, allowing a second player to join locally on another console. Additionally, this version adds Spanish language support for the first time.
The narrative follows Adol, who awakens after a shipwreck on a forbidden island and works with other survivors to navigate ruins and survive against beasts. The title was originally released on PS Vita in 2016 and has since appeared on multiple platforms including PlayStation 4, PC, the original Nintendo Switch, Stadia, and PlayStation 5.
As of now, NIS America has not disclosed pricing details for the Switch 2 version. Furthermore, there has been no announcement regarding an upgrade path for individuals who already own the 2018 Nintendo Switch edition of the game.
