To celebrate the 25th anniversary of the Xbox brand, Microsoft introduced a commemorative controller in June. While the company also announced a special edition Series X console, only the controller was made available for purchase in Taiwan, with pre-orders opening in August.

The controller draws inspiration from a 2004 transparent green model, utilizing a fluorescent green translucent shell with reflective internal components. The surface features a fine matte finish to improve grip and reduce fingerprint smudges. Design details include classic four-color ABXY buttons, a green-lit Xbox button, and white LB buttons that pay homage to the original Controller S.

The device includes a commemorative 25th-anniversary print on the front and the original Xbox logo on the battery cover. However, the expansion port near the 3.5mm headphone jack has been sealed as part of the shell design. Additionally, the controller features textured plastic grips on the back to enhance friction during use.

Compared to the 20th-anniversary edition released in 2021, which featured a more subtle black and green aesthetic, the 25th-anniversary model adopts a bolder Y2K-inspired look. While the 20th-anniversary packaging was larger and included historical timeline details, the 25th-anniversary version utilizes standard colorful packaging, reflecting a shift toward emphasizing gaming as a source of joy and entertainment.
