CD Projekt Red has shared a progress update regarding Project Hadar, a standalone intellectual property developed internally. CEO Michał Nowakowski confirmed that the studio has finalized the world vision for this project, marking a significant milestone for the company's first original setting.
Development on the title has progressed beyond the initial conceptual phase. According to Nowakowski, the team is currently crafting small prototypes and testing specific gameplay mechanics, though the project has not yet entered formal pre-production.
This development follows years of foundational work on the setting. Unlike the studio's previous titles, which were based on existing works by Andrzej Sapkowski and Mike Pondsmith, Project Hadar represents an entirely new creative endeavor for the developer.
While Project Hadar remains in early development, CD Projekt Red is simultaneously managing several other projects. The studio plans to release The Witcher 3 expansion Songs of the Past in 2027, followed by The Witcher 4 in 2028, which will feature Ciri as the protagonist.
