The developer King Art has confirmed that the Blood Ravens' chestplate imperialis in Dawn of War 4 will be black. Game director Jan Theysen explained that the team opted for this color because it aligns with the most recent official iterations found in sources like the Onslaught tabletop game and Dawn of War 3, rather than the gold used in the original title.
Regarding the Blood Ravens' mysterious origins, Theysen noted that the game will not focus on exploring their history. The narrative centers on the chapter's survival while positioned on the wrong side of the Great Rift, far from their home world. Theysen also clarified that a trailer reference to a Dark Angel as "brother" simply reflects their status as brothers-in-arms rather than implying a shared genetic lineage.
The reviewer, who has played a portion of the main campaign, praised the game's screen-filling action and the combat director's bespoke animations for melee encounters. They described the Orks as a delight and noted that the combat system remains a significant feat of RTS engineering.
While the game has faced a release date delay to further refine the experience, it remains a highly anticipated title. Future updates from the developer may include additional factions following the initial launch.
