The Saros: Zenith update launched on October 19, providing all existing owners of Saros with new content at no additional cost. Developed by Housemarque, this update aims to enhance replayability for veterans while increasing accessibility for new players to experience the game's acclaimed combat.
Accessibility improvements include a new game speed reduction option, allowing players to slow down gameplay to better react to enemy attacks without altering the number of projectiles. Additionally, an automatic firing feature has been added to reduce the need to hold down buttons, though players must still manually perform perfect reloads.
The update expands the Carcosian modifier system with 10 new beneficial and 10 new challenging modifiers. These are integrated into Ecliptic Strata, a new game plus mode where players must balance specific modifiers to progress. Higher difficulty settings reward players with a golden crown and armor, which also unlock hidden visions throughout Carcosa.
Finally, the new Sovereign Series mode offers a virtual simulation where players fight bosses sequentially. This mode features global leaderboards, allowing users to compare scores filtered by their primary weapon. Participation in this mode requires an internet connection and a PlayStation account.
