Digital Sun Games, the developer behind Moonlighter and Cataclismo, has delayed the public Steam playtest for its upcoming title, ReVamp. The studio cited concerns regarding the potential for generative AI to be used to reverse-engineer and clone their work before the game's official release.

The developers stated that because the game's launch is still months away, releasing a large public build presented too significant a risk. Instead of the original Steam plan, the team will initiate a more contained playtest via their Discord server starting October 29th, with a broader public playtest now targeted for January.

Digital Sun Games is not alone in this decision, as other developers have recently cancelled demos to prevent their work from being fed into AI tools. The studio expressed a hope that platforms will continue to strengthen protections for original creative work, though they did not specify the exact measures they desire.

ReVamp is described as a modular tower defense roguelike featuring Dracula. Despite the delay, the developers intend to continue engaging with their community, noting that showing games early is essential for independent studios to build an audience.
