The Gauntlet mode has officially launched for Fountains on Xbox, offering a new endgame challenge for players who have completed the main story. Originally developed for PC, this mode serves as a proving ground for experienced warriors.
To access the Gauntlet, players must first defeat the game's final boss and speak with the gauntlet keeper NPC. The mode features a back-to-back sequence of all ten boss fights from the base game. Owners of the Shattered Shape expansion can also select a variant that includes those specific bosses.
Players can utilize their own equipment and consumables during the run. Rest areas appear after the third, sixth, and ninth fights, allowing for gear swaps and flask recharges. Notably, all consumables used during a run are returned to the player upon completion.
The developer suggests treating the Gauntlet as a testing environment for different character builds and strategies. Players are encouraged to carry multiple loadouts to counter specific boss mechanics and to use consumables strategically rather than hoarding them.
Fountains: Extended Edition is currently available at a 20% discount. Additionally, other Xbox Play Anywhere titles from publisher Crunching Koalas, including Heading Out, Kamikaze Lassplanes, and Once Upon a Jester, are currently on sale with a 50% discount.
