Don't Nod, the developer behind titles like Life is Strange and Jusant, has officially entered safeguard proceedings. This French legal measure, comparable to Chapter 11 bankruptcy, aims to provide the studio with a 6–18 month observation period to restructure debt and secure its financial future while continuing operations.

The studio's financial difficulties stem from poor commercial performance of recent releases. Despite positive critical reception, both Jusant and Banishers: Ghosts of New Eden sold well below expectations. Furthermore, the company reported that its latest title, Aphelion, also failed to meet sales targets, negatively impacting the group's half-year performance.

CEO Oskar Guilbert stated that the current industry environment and limited access to financing have left the studio unable to adequately fund its ongoing projects. Consequently, Don't Nod has paused work on two upcoming games and is implementing a restructuring plan that focuses French operations around a single production line.

The studio faces significant personnel risks, with up to 90 positions potentially affected by layoffs. While the safeguard process offers a temporary reprieve from creditor enforcement, the company warned it may lack sufficient cash to operate beyond January 2027 without a sustainable long-term solution.
