Housemarque has unexpectedly released the Zenith update for SAROS, confirming its arrival on October 19, 2026. Creative Director Gregory Louden previously indicated during PAX week that the content was scheduled for release this year, though the specific timing remained a surprise.
The free update introduces several community-requested additions, such as a New Game Plus mode titled Eclipse Layers and a boss rush mode named Overlord Rush. Furthermore, the developers have implemented gyro-aiming, additional modifiers, and new accessibility options, including a feature that allows players to reduce the game's speed.
Louden noted that the team aimed to provide a distinct experience compared to previous post-launch content, focusing on innovation rather than repetition. This follows the publication's earlier assessment of the base game, which earned a 9.5 out of 10 for its spectacular arcade action and technical performance.
The Zenith update is currently available for players on the PlayStation 5 platform.
