The board game adaptation titled Clash Royale: The Grand Arena has officially debuted on Kickstarter. The project successfully exceeded its initial $25K funding target in under one hour.
Lead designer David Gordon explained that the team experimented with real-time mechanics and cube placement before settling on a turn-based card system. This design centers on elixir management to replicate the feel of the original mobile title.
Designed for two to four participants, the game tasks players with building eight-card decks around a Champion. The objective is to destroy opponent towers to earn crowns, with the player holding the most crowns declared the winner.
Gordon noted that the game is intended to be accessible to strategy fans unfamiliar with the franchise. Interested backers can pledge starting at $49, with higher tiers offering access to game expansions.
