Developer Rebel Wolves announced that Update 1.1 for the action RPG The Blood of Dawnwalker will arrive next week. This patch will remove the gore and blood expression restrictions previously applied to the Japanese version of the game on Steam.
The title, released on September 3, 2026, centers on protagonist Cohen, a Dawnwalker who shifts between human and vampire forms. Because blood is a fundamental element of the narrative, the Japanese version's prior censorship—which included cutting opening scenes and removing blood effects—drew significant criticism from players for undermining the game's core themes.
Update 1.1 introduces several gameplay adjustments, including the "Draught of Mind Rebirth" item to reset skill trees and a new feature allowing players to pet animals. Combat improvements include refined camera controls, target locking, and adjustments to Shadowstep and Planeshift abilities. Additionally, the update adds a new "Story" difficulty mode with combat assists and over 1100 bug fixes and general improvements.
While the censorship removal applies to the Steam version, Rebel Wolves has not provided information regarding the PS5 or Xbox Series X|S versions, nor has it addressed potential changes to sexual content. The developer previously committed to addressing these concerns on September 4, 2026, following community feedback.
