Developer Rebel Wolves has announced that update 1.1 for The Blood of Dawnwalker is scheduled for release next week. This major patch introduces a new "Story" difficulty setting designed to assist players with combat, alongside a rebranding of the previous lowest difficulty level to "Forgiving."

The update brings technical improvements, including more seamless target switching and refined movement for both combat and wall-walking. Additionally, the developers have implemented performance enhancements for frame generation. A new item, the Draught of Mind Rebirth potion, will also be available, allowing players to reset perk and ability points to experiment with different character builds without restarting the game.

A notable addition is the "directional animal petting" feature. While the studio has not provided full details, the mechanic suggests a system requiring specific inputs to interact with animals. Reviewer concerns highlight potential frustration with this, as the author expressed a preference for an "omni-petting" option to avoid complex inputs, noting past difficulties with the game's existing directional parrying systems.

The reviewer also criticized the current dodge animations, specifically requesting that the protagonist's vampire dodge be prioritized over the human animation when interacting with animals to prevent taking damage. These changes follow previous adjustments to the game's timer mechanics, which were softened following player feedback prior to the initial release.
