The ASUS Xbox ROG Ally X20 has officially launched and is currently shipping from Best Buy for $1,299.99. Following an August preorder period in the United States, the device is now available through Best Buy and the ASUS eShop.
The X20 introduces several hardware upgrades, including a 7.4-inch OLED display reaching 1,400 nits and a transparent black shell with gold accents. Notable mechanical improvements include TMR drift-resistant joysticks, a rotating D-pad with 4-way or 8-way modes, and redesigned impulse triggers featuring haptic feedback. Additionally, the device supports MicroSD Express storage and DisplayPort 2.1 via its second USB-C port.
Internally, the X20 retains the AMD Ryzen Z2 Extreme processor, 24GB of LPDDR5X RAM, and a 1TB SSD. While it runs on Windows with an Xbox interface, users have the option to install Steam OS. IGN reviewer Jackie Thomas provided a positive assessment of the device, recommending the Xbox Ally series over the Steam Deck.
For those seeking alternatives, Best Buy is offering discounts on open-box units of the previous Xbox Ally X model, with prices ranging from $789.99 to $849.99 depending on condition. These Geek Squad verified units include a 15-day return policy.
