Developer Gust has unveiled new details regarding the exploration and investigation gameplay loop for the upcoming title, The Apothecary Diaries: The False Imperial Brother. The game aims to mirror experiences found within the existing manga, light novel, and anime series.
Players will guide Maomao through five Rear Palace mysteries and five town curses. The exploration mechanics draw inspiration from the Atelier series, requiring players to gather ingredients and craft medicine. These concoctions are essential for gaining insights or directly aiding in active investigations.
The investigation phase involves synthesizing collected clues to solve cases. Players must navigate multiple-choice questions, allowing Maomao to review memories and evidence. Successfully reaching a conclusion resolves the immediate situation and advances the broader narrative.
The Apothecary Diaries: The False Imperial Brother is scheduled for release in early 2027. The title will be available on the Switch, Switch 2, PS5, and PC platforms.
