On October 15, the first-person puzzle game THANKS, LIGHT. was released for PlayStation 5, Steam, and the Epic Games Store. Developed by Lightersgames and published by Game Source Entertainment, the title invites players into a liminal space where they must solve puzzles using light and shadow.
The core mechanic involves using a flashlight to manipulate objects between 2D shadows and 3D physical forms. Shining light on a flat shadow, such as a square on the floor, causes it to expand into a 3D object like a staircase. Conversely, removing the light source causes obstacles to shrink back into flat shadows. Players must strategically decide which objects to keep in 3D and which to return to 2D to progress.
Lightersgames CEO Heebeom Jeong emphasizes that the game avoids complex tutorials, instead encouraging players to learn through observation, analysis, and trial and error. This design approach aims to help players discover rules naturally, with the challenge increasing as they apply learned concepts to later stages.
As the debut title from Lightersgames, the game is noted for its lineage alongside titles like Portal and Viewfinder. It has been recognized at the INDIECRAFT event and selected for the Tokyo Game Show 2025 Selected Indie 80. The game is currently available for purchase, with a free demo accessible on Steam.
