Techland CEO Paweł Marchewka confirmed during a recent Discord AMA that the studio is ending support for Dying Light: The Beast. Originally conceived as an expansion for Dying Light 2, the title launched last year as a standalone, self-contained experience.

Despite the cessation of future content, the game received several free updates over the past year, including the Restored Land patch which enabled players to clear zombies and restore civilization. Marchewka emphasized that the studio never intended for this title to receive long-term support.

Marchewka noted that the five-year support model proved challenging, as maintaining older titles with smaller teams can disrupt production on new projects. He added that meeting player expectations for frequent, high-quality free updates with limited resources often leads to disappointing results.

While Dying Light 2 continues to receive updates, Techland has canceled the Xbox One and PS4 versions of The Beast. The studio's future development plans remain unannounced following the cancellation of their fantasy RPG project last year.
