Key information

Capcom has officially launched a free introductory demo for the Switch 2 version of Monster Hunter Wilds. Players can access content ranging from character creation through the prologue and up to Chapter 1-3, titled "To the Forest."

The demo allows users to test all 14 weapon types and engage in combat against new monsters, including Chatacabra and Kematoris. While online multiplayer is unavailable, the demo supports local wireless play for up to four participants who each have the software installed on their Switch 2 consoles. Additionally, players can summon NPC Support Hunters via distress signals during quests.

Certain features are restricted in this trial version, such as the photo mode and full online functionality. Capcom notes that local communication is limited to connections between demo users or between full retail copies. Furthermore, save data and configuration settings from the demo can be transferred to the final game.

The full version of Monster Hunter Wilds is scheduled for release on December 4, 2026. It will include all previously released update content, such as Mizutsune, Gogmazios, and the Omega Planetis from the Final Fantasy XIV collaboration.
