Leaked images from developer portfolios suggest Ubisoft was developing a cancelled open-world title titled Assassin's Creed Destiny. Reportedly set around 206 B.C. during the transition from the Qin to the Han dynasty, the project was allegedly a collaboration between Ubisoft and Tencent.
The prototype footage displays a hooded assassin fighting during a siege led by warlord Xiang Yu. Gameplay mechanics featured greybox testing environments and a unique rotating umbrella weapon. The user interface incorporated thematic elements like calligraphy brushes and yin-yang symbols, with potential support for dual protagonists.
While Destiny was intended for consoles and PC, the mobile-focused Assassin's Creed Jade remains in development. Despite being previously delayed to 2025, current progress remains uncertain as of 2026. Meanwhile, the upcoming Assassin's Creed Hexe is reportedly undergoing a significant internal restructuring, including the removal of magical abilities.
The development of Hexe has faced leadership changes, with director Benoit Richer and creative director Clint Hocking both departing the project. These exits prompted a broader reorganization, resulting in the promotion of Ubisoft veteran Jean Guesdon to the position of Head of Content for the Assassin's Creed franchise.
