Unknown Worlds is preparing to launch a significant update for Subnautica 2, referred to as early access 2.0. Creative director Anthony Gallegos described this release as the most substantial update since the game launched in May.
The update introduces a complete new playable region containing multiple biomes and additional story elements regarding the ship Cicada's colonists. Players will also encounter new creatures and updated behaviors for the Collector Leviathan, which is intended to be scarier than previous iterations.
Gallegos highlighted that the new region is designed to be dark and threatening while remaining beautiful. The update also brings new gadgets, biomods, and a functional change to the dash mechanic, which will now be integrated directly onto the player's fins rather than requiring a specific biomod slot.
Additionally, the Tadpole vehicle is receiving a new frog chassis, providing the craft with arms and legs for players to utilize.
