Developer Unknown Worlds has officially initiated its voyage toward Early Access 2.0 for the survival title Subnautica 2. This upcoming update promises to introduce the most frightening region ever developed for the franchise.
Creative director Anthony Gallegos confirmed that the update incorporates several new biomes, narrative expansions, and unique Leviathan behaviors. Players will also gain access to a pilotable mech known as the Frog chassis for the tadpole submersible.
Movement mechanics are receiving significant adjustments, specifically the addition of an underwater dash ability when equipped with fins. This feature, previously restricted to a specific biomod upgrade, is intended to streamline navigation. Furthermore, the update introduces new base building components, such as a round room, with additional details expected in future deep dive videos.
While the game has achieved over 5 million sales and remains a focus for Krafton's franchise expansion plans, no specific release date or window for the Early Access 2.0 update has been provided by the studio.
