Cygnus Cross, based in Ireland, has released a playable demo for its upcoming action RPG Emberville on PC via Steam as of October 20. The game tasks players with exploring the magical prison Vitromortas to rescue captives and restore the ruined town of Emberville while uncovering the mysteries of the dungeon.
Emberville blends Diablo-style hack-and-slash combat with Stardew Valley-inspired life simulation mechanics. Players engage in fast-paced combat using weapons like axes, hammers, and crossbows, utilizing a combo system and skill inheritance between classes. Beyond fighting, the game features gathering, fishing, and farming, where gaining experience unlocks new recipes and abilities.
Resources collected during dungeon expeditions are used to craft equipment and rebuild town facilities. Rescued NPCs assist in reconstruction and provide access to new technologies. The demo allows players to experience the prologue, including combat, crafting, and exploration, with progress carrying over to the early access release scheduled for October 27, 2026.
The early access version will feature the first major biome, with plans to expand to nine biomes before the full release, which is expected in approximately 18 months. Future updates will introduce cooperative multiplayer, mod support, and console versions. The developer also intends to release a post-launch update within one month of early access to add a final boss for the first biome and improve controller support.
