The 1.2 patch for Star Wars Zero Company has arrived, introducing a granular difficulty system that functions alongside existing settings like easy, normal, hard, and ironman beskarboy. Developed by Bit Reactor, this update focuses on tactical adjustments rather than simply increasing enemy statistics.
Players can now customize their experience with several specific modifiers. These include removing the injury system to ensure downed operatives are killed instantly, lowering the injury threshold before permanent death, or adding death risks to being downed. Additionally, users can restrict health scaling to increase fragility or limit the respec function by disabling class and weapon swapping.
PC Gamer reviewer Fraser Brown noted that while the game offers interesting tactical challenges, he felt disappointed by the lack of a fog of war mechanic, which contrasts with the map obscuration found in XCOM. Despite this, the reviewer praised the new modular options for allowing players to address specific pain points without committing to a full difficulty level jump.
This update follows the game's critical and commercial success, which has reportedly led Bit Reactor to begin rehiring furloughed staff. The patch also addresses technical issues, including a fix for instances where shots with a 100% hit chance previously failed to connect.
