Key information
Broadsword plans to release a large collection of inactive character names in Star Wars: The Old Republic. This initiative is scheduled to occur next month as part of the game's 15th anniversary celebrations.
The studio has established specific criteria for name protection. Subscriber accounts maintain automatic protection for their characters. Additionally, any character that has logged into the game since January 1st of this year remains exempt from the name release.
Players wishing to retain their current character names must log into those specific characters by November 12th. This action ensures the name remains associated with the account.
If a player fails to meet the November 12th deadline, they are not permanently barred from the game. Users can still log into an affected character after that date and will receive a free opportunity to rename their character.
