Lucasfilm is reportedly exploring options for the development of a new Star Wars Battlefront 3 title. According to information from Electronic Gaming Monthly discussed on a Giant Bomb podcast, the company is currently searching for a development partner to lead the project.
While EA DICE is considered the primary candidate for the project, reports suggest that Bungie is also being evaluated as a potential developer. The selection process remains ongoing, indicating that the game is not expected to launch in the near future.
Bungie's potential involvement is noted for its background in shooter titles like Destiny and Halo. Observers suggest the studio's experience with high-mobility gameplay could offer a unique perspective on the Battlefront franchise, should they be selected over DICE.
The development choice carries potential implications for future platform availability. Reports highlight that PlayStation's current strategy of prioritizing PC ports for live-service titles could influence how a potential Bungie-led Battlefront game is distributed across platforms.
