A new rumor regarding the potential development of Star Wars Battlefront 3 has emerged from a special print issue of Electronic Gaming Monthly. The publication, revived through a successful 2024 Kickstarter campaign, features a column by the legendary industry figure Quarterman suggesting that Disney is actively searching for a studio to lead the project.

According to the report, Lucasfilm is currently evaluating potential partners for the title. While EA DICE is considered a candidate due to their previous work on the franchise, the rumor also identifies Bungie as a possible developer. Jeff Grubb, a contributor to the new issue, clarified that the game is not currently in production, though preliminary discussions regarding potential developers are reportedly occurring.

The franchise has a complex history, with EA DICE previously releasing Star Wars Battlefront in 2015 and Star Wars Battlefront 2 in 2017. Prior to these, a third entry was famously canceled during development at Free Radical Design. While player interest in the series remains high, both EA DICE and Bungie are currently occupied with other projects, including Battlefield 6, Marathon, and ongoing support for Destiny 2.

It remains uncertain whether these discussions will lead to an official project. Electronic Arts' exclusive licensing agreement for Star Wars titles concluded in 2023, and the current report emphasizes that the information stems from unverified rumors rather than an official announcement from Disney or Lucasfilm.
