New data from Sensor Tower reveals that GTA 6 is significantly outpacing major AAA titles from the last six years in digital preorder volume. The analysis positions the upcoming release as a potential record-breaker for the industry.
The firm compared the title against high-profile games including Diablo 4, Hogwarts Legacy, Marvel's Spider-Man 2, and Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2. Currently, GTA 6 digital preorders are 148% higher than those recorded for Modern Warfare 2 at the same interval before launch.
As of October 13, Sensor Tower estimates 6.08 million digital preorders in the United States, generating approximately $594 million in revenue. Most consumers opted for the $100 ultimate edition, with 74% of orders on PlayStation and 26% on Xbox.
While these figures suggest a massive debut, the analysis is limited to digital preorders within the United States and excludes all boxed retail sales. Industry analysts previously projected first-year sales between 30 million and 50 million units.
