Electronic Arts has officially confirmed the return of its boxing franchise, Fight Night, ending a 15-year hiatus since the release of Fight Night Champion. The announcement was made via the series' official X account, which addressed fans with the message, "To everyone who stayed in our corner: Fight Night is coming back."
The franchise previously took a backseat as EA Sports shifted its focus toward the UFC series. According to reports, this decision was driven by the rising popularity of mixed martial arts and the high costs associated with licensing prominent boxers. In 2021, it was noted that EA aimed to avoid splitting its resources between two similar combat sports titles, prioritizing UFC instead.
While the official announcement lacks specific details regarding release dates or target platforms, speculation has emerged regarding the timing and motivation behind the revival. Some media outlets, including VGC, suggest the project could be influenced by the Public Investment Fund, the new owner of Electronic Arts, citing Saudi Arabia's involvement in professional boxing.
Although no official launch window has been provided, industry observers anticipate that more information, potentially including early development footage, could be revealed during The Game Awards 2026. The return of the series follows years of fan requests for a modern boxing simulation that utilizes current gaming technology to fill the void left by previous entries.
