Developer Meridian has officially unveiled its upcoming narrative-focused RPG, Aurum: City of Chains. The studio has launched a dedicated Steam store page for the title, marking the first public details regarding this project.
In this game, players arrive in the city of Aurum with nothing and must forge their own path. There are no predetermined routes; users can choose to pursue wealth, influence, or simply focus on daily survival. Players do not take on the role of a chosen hero, but instead define their own identity as a merchant, a powerful figure, or a survivor.
The city of Aurum functions as a dynamic environment that evolves independently of the player. Events within the city cause fluctuations in prices, creating new opportunities or challenges. Furthermore, NPCs track player actions and adjust their behavior accordingly. These interactions influence future relationships, reputation, and the range of choices available to the player.
Aurum: City of Chains is currently in development for PC. The release date remains unannounced, and the game does not support the Japanese language at this time.
