Publisher CFK announced that the Rogue-lite action RPG Nightmare: The Lunatic is now available globally on PlayStation 5 as of October 16. Following its previous release on Nintendo Switch, this title expands its reach to Sony's console with both physical and digital versions, with H2 Interactive handling distribution in Asian territories.
Developed by Maetdol Games, the title follows a protagonist who has lost their memories and is trapped within an endless nightmare. Players must navigate shifting, gear-like dreamscapes to reach the end of the cycle, aided by a character known as the Dream Merchant to confront the source of the nightmare.
The gameplay emphasizes combat mechanics including dashes, dodges, and precise parries to counter powerful monsters. Players can equip three different weapons, switching between them in real-time to adapt to various combat situations. The dungeon layouts are procedurally generated, meaning the environment changes with every run, and failure forces the player to restart from the beginning.
Progression involves defeating area bosses to uncover clues for escape while unlocking contracts or enhancing abilities to build a unique character system. For physical collectors, the game is available in a standard edition or a limited Collector's Edition.
