Homebrew developer Gezine recently demonstrated a functional exploit for PlayStation 5 firmware 14.10. The developer shared a video on X showing access to the console's debug settings, indicating a bypass of security measures implemented by Sony in the update released on October 1.
This development follows Sony's previous efforts to secure the platform, including the 14.00 update in mid-September which disrupted the earlier Relapse exploit. Currently, Sony mandates firmware 14.10 for users attempting to sign in to the PlayStation Network.
Despite the exploit, the ability to run game backups remains restricted. Gezine noted that the existing hypervisor bypass is ineffective on 14.10, suggesting that a separate hypervisor exploit is required to enable unauthorized software or game dumps. Consequently, applications facilitating free game access are not currently viable.
The jailbreak remains private, with no confirmed plans for a public release. Some community members have urged the developer to delay any potential disclosure until after the launch of GTA 6 to prevent Sony from patching the vulnerability prematurely.
