The PlayStation 5 title Saros has received the Zenith update, which aims to balance accessibility for newcomers with increased replayability for veteran players. Developer Housemarque stated they were wary of compromising the core combat system, opting to introduce new features rather than reducing projectile counts.
Key additions include a customizable slow-motion mode, which provides players with extra reaction time during intense encounters. Additionally, the update introduces a variety of modifiers: Protection modifiers assist players, such as the Corruption Melee Enhancement, while Trial modifiers like Hostile Regeneration increase the difficulty by forcing players to engage in melee combat to prevent enemy healing.
For those seeking further challenges, the Eclipse Layers New Game Plus mode offers altered rules and increased intensity upon completion of the main game. This mode features a visual progression system where the protagonist Arjun gains a glowing crown, which also helps players discover 12 newly added story visions.
The update also brings the Overlord Rush boss-rush mode, designed for 10-minute sessions, culminating in a final gauntlet against all eight bosses. Despite a sluggish sales start following its April release, Housemarque intends to continue supporting the game with further tweaks and additions for some time.
