Sony has announced that its cloud streaming service for PlayStation 5 games will officially launch in South Korea on October 28, 2026. This service will be available on both PS5 consoles and the PlayStation Portal remote player, marking a significant expansion for local users.
Existing PlayStation Plus Deluxe members will be automatically upgraded to the PlayStation Plus Premium tier at no additional cost. This new tier includes access to cloud streaming for supported digital PS5 titles, game trials, and the PlayStation Plus game catalog. Notably, the service in Korea is restricted to PS5 games, excluding PS4 and PS3 titles from cloud streaming functionality.
The service supports streaming in SDR or HDR at up to 60Hz, with PlayStation Portal users enjoying up to 1080p at 60fps. While cloud streaming offers a similar experience to downloaded games, it relies on PlayStation's cloud servers rather than local hardware. Users should note that PS VR2 games are not supported, and the service requires a stable internet connection, with a minimum bandwidth of 5Mbps recommended.
PlayStation Portal owners can stream supported PS5 games directly without needing to connect to a local console, allowing for gameplay even when the console is powered off or in use by others. Additionally, the launch includes a promotional offer for Korean users, providing a free set of 10 Black Desert avatars between October 21, 2026, and March 31, 2027.
