Nomad Games and Balor Games have officially announced HeroQuest: Digital Edition, a new digital adaptation of the classic tabletop dungeon-crawler. The title was unveiled during The MIX Fall Showcase and is scheduled to launch on PC via Steam in 2027, with a closed beta playtest expected to arrive soon.
The game features a narrative where players must stop the sorcerer Zargon from conquering the Realm. Users can control a party of four heroes—the Barbarian, Dwarf, Elf, and Wizard—or choose to play as Zargon himself to orchestrate the downfall of the fellowship.
Gameplay centers on tactical turn-based combat where players roll dice to navigate challenges. The experience supports up to five players, allowing for solo play, four-player online co-op, or a fifth participant to act as the antagonist. Success relies on strategic positioning and utilizing the unique abilities of each hero.
Beyond the core campaign, the title includes a Quest Editor for creating custom scenarios. Through integrated mod.io support, players can share their own designs and access community-created content, providing opportunities for ongoing adventures.
