Key information
Authorities in Santa Ana, California, report that a theft occurred on October 13 outside the headquarters of Professional Sports Authenticator. A FedEx truck was burglarized after being left unattended for 60 to 90 minutes, resulting in the loss of multiple pallets containing various sports and Pokémon trading cards.
Police estimate the value of the stolen goods from two pallets alone exceeds $963,000. Because a third pallet was also taken, officials suggest the total financial impact will likely surpass $1 million once a full assessment is completed.
The incident gained attention in mid-October when collectors began receiving notifications from PSA regarding the burglary. One collector, known as SKY-B, expressed concern on social media regarding how the company would determine the fair market value of the lost items, noting that his own missing cards were valued at over $100,000.
PSA has committed to compensating affected customers based on fair market value up to the Maximum Insured Value selected for each item. The company has also deactivated the certificates for the stolen cards and is cooperating with FedEx and law enforcement to investigate the crime.
