The Pokémon Company and Disney have announced a new stop-motion animated series titled Pokémon Tales: The Misadventures of Sirfetch'd & Pichu. The project is scheduled to debut on Disney XD and stream exclusively on Disney Plus in 2027.
Developed by Aardman Animations, the studio behind Wallace & Gromit, the series follows Sirfetch'd and Pichu as they travel through the Galar region. The narrative centers on their quest to protect other Pokémon, featuring a mix of peril, rivalries, and comedic moments.
Phil Rynda, director of original animation at The Pokémon Company, noted that Aardman’s stop-motion style provides a unique, tactile perspective on the Galar environment. Ayo Davis, president of Disney Kids & Family, added that the series aims to blend Aardman's artistry with the established Pokémon world.
This collaboration, originally announced in 2024, expands the presence of the franchise on Disney platforms. In addition to the upcoming series, Disney Plus currently hosts classic content, including the original Pokémon anime and several seasons from the Sun & Moon era.
