Nintendo has acknowledged that it underestimated the consumer demand for the remake of The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time. The company initially offered a special edition featuring a metallic cover for early pre-orders, but this incentive sold out rapidly across digital retailers, catching the publisher by surprise.
Bill van Zyll, Nintendo's vice president and general manager for Latin America, confirmed that the supply issue is a global phenomenon rather than a localized one. During an interview, he apologized for the lack of availability, noting that while the company anticipated a positive reception, the actual magnitude of interest exceeded their projections.
High demand has also impacted the Nintendo Switch 2 – The Legend of Zelda 40th Anniversary Edition, which has similarly sold out in minutes. Van Zyll stated that the company is actively working to replenish stock for both the game and the special hardware edition.
Despite these efforts, consumers should expect delays in finding these items. Van Zyll cautioned that it will take some time before additional units become available for purchase, as the company manages the supply constraints affecting these products worldwide.
