Developer Pocketpair has officially announced a major upcoming update for its open-world survival game, Palworld. Titled Side by Side, the content expansion is scheduled to arrive in the winter of 2026. While the studio shared a promotional image alongside the announcement, specific gameplay details regarding the new features remain undisclosed at this time.
The announcement coincided with the release of the Palworld Global Popularity Poll 2026 results. According to the official rankings, Sekhmet secured the first position among more than 280 available Pals, while Zoe was identified as the most popular character within the community.
Palworld, which combines creature collection with survival and crafting mechanics, originally entered early access in early 2024 for PC and Xbox, followed by a PlayStation 5 release in September. The title reached its 1.0 version this summer. Throughout its development, the game has faced significant controversy regarding its similarities to the Pokémon franchise, leading to legal proceedings.
As the game continues to receive updates, Pocketpair recently confirmed that it maintains a repository of discarded designs. These concepts are occasionally revisited to inspire new Pals that are eventually integrated into the final game experience.
