Swedish developer Liquid Swords is officially shutting down operations. Founder Christofer Sundberg confirmed the closure following bankruptcy reports, marking the end of the studio that previously aimed to avoid industry distractions like crunch and unnecessary meetings.

The studio's sole release, the crime game Samson, debuted on PC in April. While the subsequent PS5 and Xbox Series X|S versions launched in September performed significantly better than the initial release, Sundberg stated the console success was insufficient to prevent the studio's collapse.

The bankruptcy process involves the termination of all 27 employees. Although staff reportedly went two months without pay, local Swedish laws will ensure those salaries are covered. Sundberg expressed pride in the team's work despite the studio's ultimate failure.

Despite the closure, the future of the Samson title remains uncertain but potentially active. Sundberg indicated that discussions regarding continued support for the game are currently underway as he looks toward future endeavors.
